Finn’s Epic Fails
My Review
Finn is a walking disaster who has a bullying prankster for a big brother, a unicorn-obsessed little sister and a dad who wears way too much lycra. This Not-a-Diary chronicles his epic fails as he tries to navigate year seven without becoming completely traumatised with embarrassment, alongside his loyal friends, a genius affectionately known as Google because she knows everything, and Laszlo who is always falling in love.
This contemporary tween tale has all the energy, pranks, mishaps and relatable cringe that kids crave to feel seen. You can’t help but root for Finn and there are touching moments between the chaotic mess of his mishaps that give the book real heart. It’s approachable and fun, perfect for kids who like to dip in and out of their books as well as those who can’t put them down. I can’t see this spending much time languishing on a shelf – it’s the kind of book kids will fight over.
