My Review
An epic tale set in the last City after the Enemy has drowned the world. This book follows orphan Ellie, a talented inventor, trying to protect a boy who washes up inside a whale from the Inquisition who believe him to be the Enemy returned.
Struan Murray’s writing is rich and lyrical in a way that draws you in and doesn’t let you go. I’d recommend this book for confident upper KS2 readers. My eldest, a prolific reader, found the plot twist in this book ‘life changing’ and says it was one of her all-time favourite MG books.
