I was completely drawn in by this atmospheric retelling of Red Riding Hood; it has all the vibes of a classic fairytale, but layered with different perspectives that make it feel fresh and exciting. We have the traditional missing grandmother, the wolves and the woods that are feared by the villagers, but we see it all through the eyes of a visually impaired 14 year-old who can see the unfairness of her small society and the magic of the forest it has tried to fence out. 

This books sits nicely in the oft-forgotten space for 11-14 year-old readers and would make a good addition to reading lists for Years 6, 7 and 8, as well as a charming and thought-provoking read for anyone wanting a tale of wild, courageous girls overcoming ingrained prejudice with hope and solidarity.
